Eero Ettala isn’t just a jack-of-all-trades. He’s a master of them too. Born in Helsinki, Finland, in 1984, Ettala demonstrated from an early age that he had a real aptitude for anything he tried his hand at.
He first appeared on the international snowboarding scene back in 2005 and, despite several knee injuries along the way, has shown that he’s got the skills to stay there.
Not only has he achieved impressive results in Big Air events, such as being a two-time Freestyle.CH winner (2006 and 2009) and taking third place at the Toyota Big Air event in 2012, but he’s also shown to be quite the expert on the rails; taking first place at the O’Neill Snowboard Jam.
His talents don’t stop there, however. In 2010, he entered the Winter X Games in Aspen and modestly walked away with first place in the slopestyle event.
Needless to say, there isn’t much that this Finnish athlete doesn’t excel at. After he started popping up all over the circuit, it didn’t take long for Ettala to catch the eye of producer Mack Dawg, who went on to cast him in high-profile roles in snowboarding movies such as Picture This and Double Decade, immortalising Ettala’s skills on film.
In more recent years, Ettala’s love for filming killer vids has outweighed his thirst for competition, and he’s been focusing his energy on numerous film and television projects.
He starred in the web series Cooking with Gas, which showcased the best that both urban and backcountry riding has to offer, and completed the first-ever snowboard session inside the walls of a Snow Castle.
