Thierry Neuville first made his mark in the 2009 Citroën Racing Trophy Belux Championship. The following year he raced in the Junior World Rally Championship in a Citroën C2 Super 1600, winning his category at Rally Bulgaria.

In 2011, Neuville caught Citroën’s attention with IRC victories in Corsica and Sanremo and got offered a full season in Citroën’s Junior World Rally Team for 2012. After finishing seventh in his first season at rallying’s top level, he was signed by the Qatar M-Sport World Rally Team for 2013. With his Ford Fiesta RS WRC, Neuville claimed four consecutive runner-up finishes and three third places during the course of 2013, eventually finishing an impressive second in the drivers’ championship behind Sébastien Ogier.
