This year, plunge into Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series history with the addition of Montreal to the 2024 season event schedule. The World Series has welcomed five Canadian athletes into the fold, and the for the first time ever will allow the likes of cliff diving icon Molly Carlson and fellow Canadian Simone Leathead to compete on home soil.
The city of Montreal is known not only as Canada’s cultural capital, but is also considered an international high diving hub, thanks to the 20-metre indoor platform at the Olympic Pool. This incredible facility allows athletes to train in all weathers, including the World Series’ very own icon Molly Carlson, who hones and refines her skills here all year round.
For the sixth stop of the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series, all the cliff diving action will take place out of Grand Quay in the Port of Montreal. In the early 20th century the site was once one of the city’s primary docks, and today is now a stunning riverside location that has been one of multiple vibrant and creative regeneration projects completed across the city. The port spans 1.2km along St. Lawrence River, and in August 2024 the cityscape will also include the iconic Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series diving platforms that will, just for a while, loom 27m above the majestic waterway.
The World Series platforms will be out in all weathers, with the divers hoping for typical August conditions in Montreal - calm, sunny days and comfortably warm temperatures. If the weather holds, the divers might still be facing high humidity… and as history likes to remind us, there’s always the possibility of rain…
