450 riders get ready to attack the 2017 Red Bull Foxhunt

Red Bull Foxhunt 2022

Slieve Croob

United Kingdom

With Red Bull Foxhunt fast approaching, we have compiled some key information to ensure your event experience is as enjoyable as possible.
Back with a bang for 2022, the Red Bull Foxhunt will take place on Slieve Croob, Ballyward Castlewellan, County Down BT31 9TA on October 15-16th.
The format of Red Bull Foxhunt is easy, but the riding is not! On a specially constructed 3km course, 300 riders will line up for the mass start. Approximately 5 seconds later we will release the two ‘foxes’ Gee Atherton and Greg Callaghan, hell bent on chasing down the field. As the foxes pass each rider, they are eliminated. The goal for each competitor is to beat our wily foxes before the finish in Slieve Croob camping site!
The winner of the last three Red Bull Foxhunt events has been former Downhill National Champ, Colin Ross. The Red Bull Foxhunt is known for being physically demanding, technical and lots of fun!

Uplifts

An uplift service will be in place for both Saturday & Sunday & will take competitors to the top of Slieve Crobb. There then there will be a 5 min push to the start of course. Helmets must be worn whilst on the uplift vehicles.

Filming

Rider’s will have the opportunity to submit their own onboard footage to be included in the 2022 Foxhunt edit.
Once you finish the race look out for our GoPro manager. He will collect your camera and tag it with your phone number. We will then take your camera away and off load footage into our edit suite. This could take a maximum of 1hr due to the high volume of footage.
We’re looking for the best angle possible, so here are some suggested mounts:
  • Top of helmet
  • Chest cam
  • Back of helmet
  • On bars facing face
  • The Stickcam
  • On side of helmet facing forwards
Also, it’s going to be difficult to use your footage if there is water/mud on the lens, so a quick wipe every so often can get around this issue. Remember - ride safe, and don’t do anything you are not comfortable with. That’s your responsibility, not ours.

Required Camera Specs:

GoPro 3+ or 4 Black preferred, others accepted if they can use these settings:
  • 1080p Superview preferred, or 1080p
  • Maximum FPS allowed: At least 50fps
  • FOV: Wide
  • Sharpness: Medium
  • Lowlight: Off
  • Spot Meter: Off
  • Color encoding: PAL
  • Pro-tune settings: On
  • Colour: GoPro Colour
  • What Balance: 5500k or closest
  • Exposure: 0Maximum
  • ISO: 1600
*** Please advise the collection staff at finish line if anything interesting happened during your race run. e.g big crash, being passed by Gee or Greg, etc. Remember, try to keep your lens clean. It will likely get splashed on the way down, so a quick wipe once in a while will let your camera have a clear view of the action.***
