Ireland’s number-one mountain bike rider will contest the 2020 Enduro World Series (EWS) with Unior/Devinci Factory Racing. Callaghan parted ways over the winter period with Cube bikes following a five-year stint at the German team.
Over the last few years in the EWS, Greg has firmly cemented his position as one of the fastest riders out there. However, in 2019 it wasn’t all plain sailing as Greg battled a foot injury early on, ruling him out of title contention.
You can follow Greg’s journey last season in the latest series of On-Track.
As Greg starts this new chapter with the Slovenia based outfit, Unior/Devinci Factory Racing, he will be aiming to make 2020 the year he returns to the top step of the podium. Callaghan made a big entrance on to the professional circuit, finishing third overall in the EWS in 2017 after scoring some impressive results during his debut season – including his first pro race win outside of Ireland, in Madeira, Portugal.
Greg Callaghan said: “Small things can happen and knock you off your game... There are so many factors that can affect a race and there’s just been a mix of them over the last couple of years. That’s where I think this new environment at Unior/Devinci is really going to help me, I feel like I’m going to be happier at the races and feel like I’m in a better position to perform my best on the day. At the end of the day, a happy rider is a fast rider.”
“Ever since then [2017] I’ve believed that’s where I can be. I’ve shown in stage results that I still have that speed; it’s just been putting it all together that has been the problem. I feel like having a new bike and new people around me will make it easier to put those race weekends together and put them into the results I’m capable of.”
