The latest battle royale on the block is Hyper Scape, a high-octane, all-action shooter from the fine people at Ubisoft. Free-to-play and available on both consoles and PC, unlike Fortnite, PUBG and Apex Legends, Hyper Scape is based exclusively in the tight confines of Neo Arcadia, an urban landscape with plenty of places to land and loot.
With ever-changing events that pop up through the match – offering anything from double jumps to extra health for a limited time – if you've been looking for a battle royale with a twist, look no further – Hyper Scape is here.
Here's some tried and tested tips to better the odds of securing that winning crown…

Hack it up

Unlike competitors like Apex Legends which offer a roster of different characters that boast a variety of different perks and abilities, all players are created equal in Hyper Scape. Therefore, it doesn't matter what character you play as, as much as the hacks you pick up along the way.
There are several currently available: Teleport, Slam, Heal, Wall, Invisibility, Mine, Armour, Ball, Shockwave, Reveal, and Magnet.
Right now, players are still experimenting with the powers to find their perfect combinations, so the jury's still out on what the best mix is. The good news, though, is that not a single one is a dud, so don't be shy to experiment. Given some are offensive and others make it easier to get out of sticky situations, you might find combining, say, Ball and Slam helpful to get you cross the map speedily, while Wall is a great way to keep players at bay for those precious last seconds until the crown countdown has finished.

There's no ever-decreasing circle… but zones will collapse

Is a battle royale really a battle royale if players aren't being chased by a devouring circle?! Hyper Scape certainly thinks so, but rather than force competitors to flee from a circular storm, Ubisoft has devised a new system that sees areas of Neo Arcadia periodically collapse.
This means it doesn't matter where you are on the map, as zones break up randomly. You should also find that they're not too tricky to escape, either, providing you keep an eye on the countdown.

There are two ways to win… and only one requires you to be the last team standing

Hold off competitors for 45 seconds wearing the crown, and you'll be king

Like all battle royales, Hyper Scape can be won if you eliminate all competitors and fight to be the last team standing… but that's not the only way.
The clue's in the name – Crown Rush. Regardless of how many players are left duking it out, once the final zone has collapsed, a crown will drop, and the first player to survive wearing it for 45 seconds wins.
It's easier said than done, of course. Once you don the crown you'll be visible to every competitor in the lobby, all of whom will be hellbent on tracking you down and relieving you of your royal headwear. The type of hacks you have will be surprisingly important here; while Reveal is handy in-game, it doesn't do you much good if you're running for your life with a target on your back, does it?

Look up

While Apex Legend's World's Edge map introduced a little verticality into the genre, there's no other battle royale on earth that matches Hyper Scape's towering skyline.
While it's important to keep an eye on the ground when looking for supply crates and jump portals, you'll soon discover that much of the action takes place on Neo Arcadia's rooftops. The city's towering buildings help give you the perfect vantage point to keep an eye on your foes, as well as a faster escape route should things get sticky.

Death is not the end

Restore points get you back in the game

There's no permadeath in Hyper Scape. Instead, fallen players can move around the world as Echoes, ghostly and completely invisible figures that can move freely around the map but are unable to interact with anything (which is a pain, admittedly, given you can't melee down doors anymore!).
While many BRs boast a revive feature now, no other game works quite like Hyper Scape. Here, departed players need to locate restore points that pop up on the corpses of their enemies. Perhaps most interestingly, though, Echoes can also act as scouts for their living squad members, complete with the ability to ping important items, such as ammo and weapons.
They can also keep an eye on competing enemies if you're the last squaddie standing and have a crown on your head…

Fuse, don't lose

There are no mods or attachments to find in Hyper Scape. Instead, you can level up your weapons and your hacks by finding duplicates of whatever gun or ability you're rocking, enabling you to boost your mag size for the former, and your cooldown time in the latter. Overfuse your items even further, and you'll be able to draw on them every few seconds… which might make all the difference in the heat of the battle.
