Ready to explore distant galaxies in Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order? With these essential tips and tricks as a guide, the force will always be strong with you.
Developed by Respawn Entertainment, the minds behind Titanfall and Apex Legends, this journey through the galaxy can be unforgiving at times. With third-person combat, tough enemies, bosses and a whole slew of huge planets to explore, you’ll always be at one with the force if you follow this guide.
1. Scan everything

After you get BD-1 on Borgano after the tutorial, you’ll be able to scan enemies, fauna and random bits and pieces. Scanning a new enemy after you’ve defeated them can net you a healthy bit of extra experience points, which you’re able to use at a meditation point.
In addition to this, you will be able to unlock secrets, and extra data entries if you take note of something interesting while out exploring in the environment. Just wait to see the prompt to scan come up when near something interesting, and you could be rewarded handsomely.
2. Head to Dathomir early

After completing Borgano, you will be able to choose between two different planets to head to next; Zeffo or Dathomir.
Zeffo is the next “big” area to explore, while parts of Dathomir will still be cut off to you when you first explore it. Littered with tougher enemies and some unforgiving checkpoints, heading to Dathomir earlier on can actually net you a significant lightsaber upgrade if you find the dual-bladed lightsaber. This will allow you to take on the hordes of Stormtroopers on Zeffo that much easier.
In addition to this, if you’re able to take down the enemies on Dathomir, you’ll be able to net a pretty healthy amount of skill points to upgrade your character.
3. Kite non-human enemies

While out exploring, it can be easy to get caught out by the non-human enemies in any given area, but there’s an easy way to deal with these mobs. Just defend near a ledge, wait for the enemy to glow red and do an unblockable attack, then jump out of the way right at the last second. If you’re near a ledge, they’ll just jump to their death.
This came in handy more than a few times whilst on Borgano, and can be made even more useful once you’ve unlocked the Force Push ability on Zeffo.
4. Don’t be afraid to get aggressive

Get in touch with your inner dark side by getting more aggressive with enemies, especially in a one-on-one situation.
Enemies have a stamina meter that’s easily broken when you unlock the overhead slash, and can dish out a lot of damage, even when faced with non humanoid enemies. This then staggers the enemy, and you can then go and wail on them with attacks in however you wish. Combining this with timed parries that you are able to use when something is about to attack you can lead to incredibly quick kills.
5. Watch out for smaller enemies

While out exploring all of the planets in the Galaxy, you’ll often need to be more aware of the random mobs that can seemingly appear out of nowhere in numbers than the bright-white Stormtroopers that you’ll find in many levels.
This can lead to very quick deaths, especially when the critters come in numbers and attack you in succession, so players should move slowly through seemingly quiet areas, as you’ll just never know if 3-4 small enemies will come and attack you.
When they do come, they can be easily killed so don’t worry too much about the difficulty of dealing with them in numbers, especially if you have the dual-bladed lightsaber.
6. Dip, dive, deflect, dodge

While it may seem obvious, sometimes backing off is the best option in combat encounters with a multitude of enemies. Some can send missiles towards you, as well as rain a barrage of blaster fire upon you. Instead of rushing in, try to parry the blaster shots, and use your force abilities to deal with the missiles.
If you don't make it in time, a dodge using the X / A button will help a lot, and get you out of sticky situations very quickly.
7. Use your force abilities in combat

It can be easy to forget about your force abilities while haphazardly swinging around your lightsaber, but as you progress through the game, these force abilities can become incredibly useful when used in combat.
Pinned down? Just use a simple force push to give yourself a bit of breathing room. Up against a fast-moving enemy? Just slow them down for a very forgiving parry window to get rid of them in a single strike. Master the ways of the force and the forces of the empire will come to fear you.
8. Spend your skill points wisely

When you’ve acquired skill points, use them as soon as you get them, or get near enough to a meditation point. Keeping them banked on you means that you also risk losing them if you die.
In addition to this, there are several essential upgrades that will make your journey across the galaxy a lot easier, get every life or stim upgrade you can on the skill tree, as early on as possible.
No matter which way you look at it, increasing your survivability is going to help you a lot more than a fancy, new force attack.
9. Fully explore areas before moving on

It can be easy to just rush through areas just to get to the next objective, but you could be missing out on some significant upgrades. Improvements for BD-1 that allow you to traverse new areas, in addition to items that will extend your force and life meters are hidden in the world, and can be incredibly easy to miss, so take your time to explore as much of an area as you can before moving on, and you’ll be handsomely rewarded.
10. Check your map to uncover secrets

Make use of your map often, as if you’re stuck in an area, or get lost it can show you a route away, but beyond that it can become incredibly useful, if you know how to read and navigate it.
Yellow panels show unexplored terrain, doors and other entrances that you may not have explored yet. Green shows an explorable area that you can get to using a force ability, and red indicates that you do not yet have the force ability to access that area yet. This is essential in your exploration, and refer back to it as much as possible, especially while hunting for treasure.
