German driver Elias Hountondji is part of the Red Bull Driftbrothers team in the King of Europe drifting series alongside his brother, Joe.

As a trained aerospace engineer, Elias is responsible for all technical projects of the team and every adaptation to the car must be approved by him.

For the love of cars

“I’ve always been fascinated with cars,” says Eli, who started drift racing after drifting his brother's old BMW E30 in 2009. After that they were both hooked on the sport, so they entered a few amateur tournaments – and won them all. “My brother actually used that old thing to drive to work, so after each track day it was up to me to get it running smoothly again. This was the start of a challenging path – from a rusted old E30 and amateur track days to where we are now.”

What started out as a hobby is now a full-on sporting career for Elias and his family, as is father and sister are also involved in the team. Watch out for him ripping up the tracks of Europe!
