The 21-year-old began her sporting career as a gymnast before switching to diving at the age of 13. In 2019, while competing at the World Aquatics Championships in South Korea, high diving first caught her eye, and from then on her interest was piqued.
When the World Series landed on home soil in Sydney for the first time in 2022, Chinnock went along and decided at that point it was time to get involved. “I told my coach and we started working cliff diving basic skills (we had no idea what we were doing). It was a learning experience for both of us, but we’re a little team now. In February 2023 we ended up at a training camp in Florida and that’s where I learnt a few dives off 20m.”
