Jonathan Amaral, better known as Jonathan Gaming, is one of the most popular esports athletes in India. The 22-year-old has over five million subscribers on YouTube and over three million followers on Instagram.
While growing up in Bandra, a suburb of Mumbai, Jonathan was a keen football and hockey player too. But because he was one of the smaller kids, he was rarely drafted in by the coaches and was picked on by his teammates. As a teenager, he got hooked on to mobile games, especially shooting games, and soon became a proficient PUBG player.
In fact, such was his talent that it brought on an unhealthy level of scrutiny. Some of the fellow gamers labelled him a hacker and even wrote to Tencent Games to ban him. Though bruised by these accusations initially, Jonathan picked himself up and started streaming live. It went some way in not only silencing his critics but establishing him as one of the most exciting players on the circuit.
After PUBG was banned in India in 2020, he moved on to BGMI and is one of the best-known faces in the sport. He is known for his aggressive gaming style.
Having started his career with team Entity, he currently plays for GodLike Esports as an assaulter and flanker. Jonathan, who employs a two-thumb style, has represented India in numerous international competitions and has collected a bunch of MVP awards.
