Vikram belongs to a rare breed in the Indian club football set-up – a striker. With Indian clubs, historically, opting for foreign strikers, Vikram has emerged to fill a dearth of talent for the country in the forward positions. He is poised to be one of the leading frontmen in the Indian national team for the foreseeable future.
Even though Vikram has been deployed as a winger for much of his young career, he is known to have an eye for goal and has played as an out-and-out striker when called upon. He has received a lot of praise for his tremendous work rate when playing in any forward position on the football field.
Born in Gurdaspur, Punjab, he started playing football at the age of seven. A year later, he earned a spot at the Chandigarh Football Academy and spent most of his formative years there. His talent and work ethic saw him quickly rise through the ranks. Having started his pro career with the All-India Football Federation (AIFF) developmental team Indian Arrows, Vikram was snapped up by Mumbai City FC when he was just 18. He has worked his way into the first team and is now one of their best-known faces.
The youngster showed he could rub shoulders with the best in the league during a pivotal 2023-24 season with the Mumbai franchise. With eight goals, Vikram was the third-highest scorer for Mumbai City FC as they went on to win the ISL Cup. He also won the Emerging Player of the League award for his performances in 2023-24.
Vikram received his first India senior team call-up in 2024. Though injuries marred the first few months of his journey with the Indian team, he was hailed as one of the players to watch out for in the national set-up.
