Gaming
PUBG Mobile is one of the most popular games in India.
While many of us start playing the game as a way to spend time with friends despite not meeting up, some have taken it to the next level and become professionals. And whether you are a casual gamer or a pro, you definitely want to get better at the game because everyone is happiest when they get that “Winner winner, chicken dinner” at the end of the game.
One sure-fire way to get better at the game is by perfecting the tools of the trade, which in this case are the weapons. Since everyone has their own favourites and it varies according to your playing style, there isn’t a one-size-fits-all gun. But to help you decide what might work for you, we asked some of India’s top PUBG Mobile players to share their thoughts on their favourite guns.
M416
- Category: Assault rifle
- Ammo: 5.56mm
- Base damage: 41
M416 is widely considered one of the best guns in the game because it allows more attachments than any other weapon; so you can customize it how you like. The closest alternative is the SCAR-L but the M416 offers a slightly faster rate of fire.
Manmeet ‘Ted’ Singh from Team SynerGE considers the M416 to be the best gun in the game. “As M416 is quite versatile, you can use it for close-range engagements as well as medium to long ones. I prefer it for medium range fights,” says Ted.
AKM
- Category: Assault rifle
- Ammo: 7.62mm
- Base damage: 49
The AKM is an improved version of the original AK-46 that has become extremely popular among gamers as a secondary weapon. The AKM does more damage than a few other assault rifles but also has more recoil problems.
“AKM is great for close-range to mid-range because unlike UZI, we can pre-fire using these guns,” says Khelgayi from Rising Falcon Esports.
SynerGE’s entry-fragger Sujoy ‘AustinX’ Das also loves the AKM. “AKM has the highest damage of any assault rifle in PUBG Mobile. It helps me in most close range entry frags,” says AustinX.
Micro UZI
- Category: Submachine gun
- Ammo: 9mm
- Base damage: 26
The Micro UZI is a compact and lightweight weapon with a quick firing speed. Unfortunately the trade-off of having a great firing speed is that it suffers in accuracy and range, but many gamers find it extremely useful in the early phases of the game.
“UZI is great in 1v1 situations or where a squad rushes at you with multiple enemies closing in. I like it for its damage too,” says Khelgayi.
M762
- Category: Assault rifle
- Ammo: 7.62mm
- Base damage: 47
The Beryl M762 is versatile and has more attachments than the AKM. Most gamers consider it on par with the SCAR-L. While its base damage per shot is slightly lower than the other 7.62mm assault rifles, it has a faster rate of fire making overall damage per second higher than the AKM.
“M762 is one of the deadliest weapons in close range. The gun can be one of the highest damage assault rifles,” says Purvi ‘Sniipu’ Jain of ReckLess Esports.
M16A4
- Category: Assault rifle
- Ammo: 5.56mm
- Base damage: 43
The M16A4 is an assault rifle suited for long-range engagements. It has single-fire and burst-fire modes. It only accepts attachments of muzzle, magazine and sight mods, which can be limiting. However, it is a very stable weapon with minimal recoil, which helps in long-range fights.
“M16A4 is one of the guns I like to use thanks to its fast taps and less recoil. Its ammo, 5.56mm, consumes less space in the bag, making room for utilities and heals. It is great for getting the confirmed kill on knocked enemies,” says SynerGE’s in-game leader Naresh ‘Seervi’ Kumar.
