Skateboarding
Unlike most other sports, there is no specific code of attire one usually follows while skateboarding. Anything from your wardrobe that provides comfort and flexibility will work. If you've just gotten started, here are a few tips that might come in handy:
DURABILITY
Whatever you'd like to wear, keep it durable. Wearing thicker materials like chino or denims will help you to land more sessions without ripping or tearing your lowers.
FLEXIBILITY
Most of the core movements in skateboarding use legwork. Your clothes don't have to be ultra-stretch fabrics but it definitely helps to buy everyday wear that is slightly stretchable so that you don't confine your body movements.
SHIRTS
Slip into cotton shirts, tanks or hoodies. Here is where your style preference can kick in and not make a difference to your performance.
SHORTS AND PANTS
Some skaters like to wear pants for street skating since the board smacks into your legs especially when trying out new tricks. As pants provide some sort of additional coverage for your shins, it is preferred while trying tre-flips down those stairs. Shorts on the other hand go well for bowl or vert skating as you would feel more flexibility and knee pads can be easily worn to ensure protection.
While choosing your clothes to skateboard bear in mind the type of weather you skate in. You'd want to have a good mix of summer and winter clothing. Pants work well in colder countries while in India shorts are the best option to beat the heat.
