Seven months of intense football action led to the World Finals of Red Bull Neymar Jr's Five's 2019 World Finals. With over 1,00,000 players signed for the qualifier this year, the competition was higher than ever. In the end, Zsírkréták from Hungary and Spartak Myjava ženy from Slovakia emerged victorious.
India's run at the World Finals
Red Bull Neymar Jr's Five 2019 India Champions, Kalina Rangers from Mumbai, represented India at the World Finals in Brazil and gained valuable experience with a historic win against Hungary, the eventual winners of the tournament. However, group stages proved to be their last battleground with a draw against Luxembourg and heart breaking defeats against Spain and Angola.
Speaking about the event, Anthony Machado from Team India said, "We are disappointed that we could not go past the group stages, however, we are proud that we could win our last game against the eventual champions Hungary. It was a great learning experience and it will help only to improve our game going forward."
Neymar Jr's experience at the World Finals
Neymar Jr watched the semi-finals and finals from the stands before stepping onto the field to face the world champions with his special team for two matches against the victors.
Speaking about the competition, Neymar Jr said, "The level was really high, really intense today. This competition reminds me of my childhood when I used to play 5x5, 3x3, 2x2 in the streets here. I'm really proud to be able to host people from so many countries in the neighbourhood where I grew up."
