Albert Arenas was just four-years-old when he first started riding mini motorcycles and was immediately hooked. He soon began competing in junior championships and showed plenty of promise during his four-year spell in the FIM CEV Repsol series (now known as the Junior World Championship).
In his final season at junior level in 2015, Albert claimed second place in the championship after securing three wins. This earned the Spanish rider a place with the Aspar Team and then the Peugeot MC Saxoprint team, making several appearances for both during the 2016 Moto3™ World Championship.
Albert rejoined the Aspar Team in 2017 and handed a full-time place in Moto3™, and after a season of adapting was able to secure his first victory at the French Grand Prix in 2018. Two podiums and another win came in 2019 as he finished 11th in the overall standings, but it was 2020 that was a year to remember for the Spaniard.
Having come back from injury late in 2019, Albert started the new season with consecutive victories in Qatar and Jerez. He would then win again in Austria and secured two more podium finishes on the way to being crowned Moto3™ world champion at the age of 24.
Albert moved up to the Moto2™ World Championship in 2021 and steadily adapted to the new challenge. He continued to make progress in 2022 as he finished 10th or better in eight races and ended the campaign in 12th place overall.
He then joined Red Bull KTM Ajo for his third season in the intermediate class and secured his first podium finish in Moto2™ in Spain. However, that was the highlight of an otherwise difficult campaign.
For the 2024 season, Albert will be riding for Gresini Racing and will hope to show more consistentcy and add to his tally of podium finishes.
