For Gustavo Ribeiro, everything began on his fifth birthday, with a Christmas gift of a skateboard from his uncle. Three years later, Gustavo was certain what he wanted out of life – to skate professionally. These days, alongside his twin brother Gabriel, he's one of the leading lights of the Portuguese skating scene.
A star is born at Tampa AM
In 2017 Gustavo became the first Portuguese skater to win the global industry breakthrough contest Tampa AM.
That victory at the Skatepark of Tampa earned Gustavo a ticket to the SLS Pro Open 2018 in London, where he surprised all in attendance by finishing seventh overall. That same year, Gustavo clinched third place in AM Street at the Dew Tour in Long Beach, California and wrapped up 2018 with a win at Spain’s O Marisquiño contest.
In 2019, Gustavo not only turned Pro for Jart Skateboards, courtesy of his 9 to 5 video part, but scooped third at Street League in Brazil, a remarkable achievement within just two short years of his Tampa Am win.

A consistent performer on the big stages
In March 2024, Gustavo secured a repeat by booking his spot to the Summer Games in Paris with a close second place at WST Dubai, but he was unable to make it into the final in France.
In 2025, Gustavo continued his strong form, appearing in multiple finals and scoring a second-place finish at SLS Miami after landing a massive 9.5-score 360 Flip Noseblunt 270 Shuv Out in the final moments.
