From an early age, Hiroto Ogiwara went to ski resorts with his parents, and their love of snowboarding quickly rubbed off on him. Hiroto immediately took to snowboarding, and as early as he can remember, he could flow freely on the snow.
By the time Ogiwara was in elementary school, he was challenging the status quo. When he was only nine years old, he made a challenge video that went viral worldwide and became a hot topic in snowboarding. Hiroto says this set in motion his deep love of the sport.
In 2017, he made his professional debut at the age of 12, accumulating experience while participating in official competitions against fierce competitors. He acquired top-level skills and made new friends on the scene.
By practising with friends he met at tournaments, his talent blossomed. In 2021, Ogiwara won the All Japan Junior Ski Championship and All Japan Ski Championship. He also participated in the World Rookie Finals for juniors under 18 years old held in Austria. He won the championship at the age of 16, beating the top young riders in the world. In 2022, he won the All Japan Ski Championship and World Rookie Finals again.
Unstoppable, he participated in the session event The Nines in Switzerland, where he performed the world's first BS Quint Coke 2160. This astonishing trick of spinning a vertical quintuple and a horizontal hex simultaneously shocked the snowboarding world. It announced Ogiwara to the world as a next-generation star player.
In 2025, Ogiwara made history at his first X Games with a bang by landing a first-ever 2340 mute grab, securing a Big Air victory.
