A virtual unknown in the world of cliff diving before 2025, Perez spent some time this year training with Rhiannan Iffland in Area 47 in Austria before enjoying some practice dives in Polignano a Mare. In July, the 27-year-old reaped immediate rewards from these sessions when she produced an eye-catching performance to finish in fifth place at the High Diving World Championships in Singapore.
Perez, whose first taste of high diving came when she was working at a circus in China, comes from Cali – the Colombian city where fellow wildcard Maria Paula Quintero, Miguel Garcia and cliff diving legend Orlando Duque originate from.
