With a blend of physical strength, technical precision and quiet confidence, he represents a new generation of Czech tennis and is widely regarded as one of the sport’s most promising young talents.

Early success

Turning professional as a teenager, Jakub made an immediate impression by challenging established players on the ATP Tour and proving he could compete at the highest level in major tournaments.
Jakub reached his first ATP Tour final at the 2024 Qatar ExxonMobil Open, becoming the first player born in 2005 to reach an ATP final before finishing runner-up to Karen Khachanov.

Winning a first ATP Tour title

Jakub didn't have to wait long before having another chance to claim his first ATP Tour title. At the 2025 Miami Open, he eased into the final before overcoming all-time great Novak Djokovic to triumph at the Masters 1000 event.
During the 2025 season, Jakub was also able to reach the quarter-finals of the Madrid Open and move inside the world's top 20 for the first time in his career.
The start of 2026 brought more success for the young Czech star as he overcame Sebastián Báez in the final to win the Auckland Open. This was followed up by an impressive showing at the Australian Open, where he reached the fourth round.

Impressing at the French Open

Later in the year at Roland Garros, Jakub achieved his best-ever result at a Grand Slam. The Czech ace beat eighth seed Alex de Minaur, Andrey Rublev and fellow rising star João Fonseca as he reached the semi-finals of a major for the first time.
At the start of the 2026 Wimbledon Championships, Jakub held a world singles ranking of No. 18.
