Spanish rider Jose Rueda’s parents were big fans of MotoGP and Jose grew up watching the races on TV, harbouring dreams of emulating his hero Casey Stoner in becoming world champion.
His parents bought a motorbike for Jose when he was very young and right now that looks to have been a very wise move, as Jose has already made his mark in the sport.
Having filled the Rueda trophy cabinet to bursting before he reached the age of 10, Jose went on to land the Spanish Championship in Moto4 a year later in 2016 in a last-race, final corner victory that he describes as “one of my best races.”
Further promising seasons followed, with a second place in 2017’s Spanish Championship 85GP and consecutive fourth places in the European Talent Cup in 2018 and 2019.
Then in 2020, Jose stepped up to the Junior World Championship, finishing 10th that year and eighth in 2021 before his greatest success so far came in 2022.
In a near-perfect season, Jose won both the FIM JuniorGP World Championship and the Red Bull Rookies Cup in style.
Riding the KTM 250cc 4-stroke Moto3 bike, Jose won three races, achieved three pole positions and won fastest lap on three occasions, taking the Rookies Cup title by 14 points overall.
And even more impressively, in the JuniorGP World Championship, he won five of the 12 races to storm to the title by a huge margin of 76 points ahead of his nearest rival. That success saw him earn a place in the senior Moto3™ World Championship for 2023 with Red Bull Ajo Motorsport.
In his debut season in Moto3™, Jose showcased his ability as he regularly finished inside the top 10, including a podium finish in Barcelona. This helped him to achieve an impressive return of 121 points, which was enough for ninth place in the overall championship standings.
