Who is Kyra Poh?

Kyra Poh is one of the stars of the nascent sport of indoor skydiving.

Poh fell into indoor skydiving accidentally, at the age of nine, because her mother, an advertising executive, was hired to create commercials for indoor skydiving facility iFly in Singapore and they needed a child to appear in their adverts – and she hasn't looked back since.

How did Kyra Poh break 4 Guinness World Records?

While still a child – 11 to 14 – Poh broke four Guinness World Records, including:

Most backwards somersaults in a wind tunnel in one minute: She achieved a record-breaking 68 somersaults at iFly Singapore in 2013.
Most passes through a hula hoop in a wind tunnel in one minute (team of two): Poh and team-mate Choo Yi Xuan achieved 49 passes at iFly Singapore in 2014.
Most full reverse eagles in a wind tunnel in one minute: Again pairing up with Choo Yi Xuan, they completed 26 full reverse eagles at iFly Singapore in 2014.
World's Fastest Flyer (Wind Tunnel Speed): She reached a speed performance of 230kph in a vertical wind tunnel during international competition showcases at iFly Singapore in 2015.

What were Kyra Poh's earliest competition achievements?

Her first big achievement came in 2016, when she won the junior freestyle category of the Indoor Skydiving World Cup in Warsaw, Poland, at the tender age of 14.

That huge win was the result of five years of hard work, during which she practised three times a week after school.

More success came in 2017, when Poh was crowned the 'world's fastest flyer' at one of the sport's biggest competitions, the Wind Games, in Catalonia, where she won two medals.

Kyra Poh wins her first (of several) gold

In 2018, Poh scored a silver in the Solo Freestyle Open category of the the third FAI World Indoor Skydiving Championships, in Bahrain, and teamed up with fellow Singaporean, Choo Yi Xuan, 17, to win a first gold for her home nation in the Dynamic 2-Way category. She and team-mate won a second gold in the Dynamic 2-Way that year at the Asiania Indoor Skydiving Championships.

The following years – 2019 and 2022 – she achieved top solo freestyle honors at the FAI World Cups in Lille, France (2019) and Charleroi, Belgium (2022). In 2022 she won gold at the Australian Indoor World Championships in the 4-Way category.

In 2023, Poh won the gold medal in the solo freestyle open category at the FAI World Indoor Skydiving Championships, won four gold medals at the Czech Open, and was named to the Prestige 40 Under 40 list, recognising her as one of Singapore's notable young achievers and leaders.

Kyra Poh is honoured for her sporting achievements

A major training accident in January 2024 shattered her ankle, which required extended wheelchair use and intensive physical therapy, which prevented competitive activity. However, she achieved recognition for her sporting success when she made the shortlist for Singapore Sports Awards Sports Woman of the Year. She was also recognised as a Tatler Asia Leader of Tomorrow for her trailblazing career in indoor skydiving, and she pursued a Global Bachelor's in Business Administration studies at ESSEC Business School.

Kyra Poh returns to competition after injury

Poh returned to competition early in 2025. That year she won gold in the Dynamic 4-Way and bronze in the Dynamic 2-Way at the 20th FAI World Indoor Skydiving Championships in Charleroi, Belgium.

So far in 2026, she excelled at the FAI World Cup of Indoor Skydiving in France, winning gold in the Dynamic 4-Way, silver in the Dynamic 2-Way Dynamic and silver in the Solo Freestyle Open.
