Lars Forster was born on Swiss National Day and he grew up in Jona, not far from Radquer – an area known for producing plenty of MTB talent. "Jona's still a mountain bike stronghold today," Lars clarifies. Growing up in that area of Switzerland in the 1990s and 2000s, Lars belongs to the generation that grew up with mountain bike in his blood. He started riding from childhood, progressing to trails and practising jumps, honing the fine technique that he displays in his cross-country racing.
Lars was one of the best in all of his age groups as a youngster and in his first two World Cup races as an elite rider, he landed fifth and sixth placed finishes. By 2016, Lars was selected for Rio – some honour, given the quantity of riders that the Swiss had to choose from. Unfortunately, the race ended for Lars in a wild fall. "I'll take a scar home instead of a diploma," he quipped.
