Crossfit

In just a few short years, Niko Maisuradze made the transition from American football to elite functional fitness, rapidly ascending to the highest world-class levels. He capped off his 2026 season holding the title of the 18th Fittest Man on Earth, having placed fifth worldwide, second in Europe, and first in Georgia during the CrossFit Open. Gold at the Athens Throwdown, bronze at the French Throwdown, and securing Georgia’s first-ever individual berth at the CrossFit Games finals mark just the beginning of Niko’s journey.
Niko’s athletic career began in American football at age 19, where he stood out as a key player for the Rustavi Steelers. Over time, however, he found himself drawn toward a more dynamic and complex multi-sport challenge.
First introduced to functional fitness by a team-mate, Niko fell in love with the high intensity and varied demands of the training. What started as a new obsession in 2021 evolved into a full-time professional career by 2022. Beginning in team competitions, he soon transitioned into individual competition.

The turning point

Despite steady early success, Niko knew he had more to offer. In 2024, he made one of the most defining decisions of his career by joining The Progrm and training under a dedicated personal coach with a customised regimen. The shift transformed his entire philosophy: training was no longer just about volume, but about intentional, structured work.
After several competitive appearances, the turning point came when he won a bronze medal at the French Throwdown in 2026, which led to him taking his place on the world stage alongside legends like Jayson Hopper and James Sprague.

A way of life, and a new peek ahead

Niko doesn't see his demanding routine - hours of training, disciplined nutrition, relentless work - as a sacrifice. It's a deliberate choice, driven by a love of what he does. "This is sport, and we all have good days and bad days. There are periods when you put in immense work but don't see immediate results. Those are the moments when it's hardest to keep pushing yourself."
When stepping away from his intense training schedule, Niko recharges by mountain biking. This brief escape helps him return to his pursuit with renewed energy and enthusiasm, focused on a goal that is crystal clear: winning in the discipline of functional fitness.
