Hailing from southern Belgium, Thomas Genon has established a reputation as one of the best MTB slopestyle riders in the world. After promising results in 2010 and 2011, it all came together in a great FMB World Tour 2012 season.
Surprise victory
Still a relatively unknown teenager, Genon secured a shock victory in Red Bull Joyride at Crankworx. “I was fixing my music at the top of the run and someone came over to tell me that I won the comp,” he said about the surprise victory.
He also took an impressive win at 26TRIX that same year and went on to finish third in the general classification for the FMB World Tour 2012. Since then, he has added podium finishes and victories at events including Vienna Air King and King of Dirt.
In 2014, Genon took the win at Hall of Dirt, along with slopestyle victories at both the FISE World Andorra and the FISE World Montpellier. He also claimed second place at Crankworx Les 2 Alpes. 2015 was also filled with podiums, racking up third places at both Crankworx Les 2 Alpes and Red Bull Joyride, as well as taking the win at Swatch Rocket Air Slopestyle.
Rebounding from injury
A broken ankle early in 2017 derailed Genon's early season preparations, but he rebounded strongly and in 2018 enjoyed plenty of success, including victory at the Züritrails Jumppark Dirt Contest in Zurich on the FMB World Tour. In 2021, Genon finished second in Speed & Style at Crankworx Innsbruck.
Alongside his slopestyle career, Genon has become a long-time fixture at Red Bull Rampage, competing at the event since making his debut in 2012. In 2025, he earned his first Rampage podium with a second-place finish, and he's set to return to Utah in 2026 as one of the pre-qualified riders in the men's field.
