Tomoki Nojiri attended a racing kart school from an early age and began competing in the All Japan Karting Championship in 2003. He won the championship in 2006, and the following year, he travelled to Europe to compete in the European Championship, Italian Masters and World Cup KF1.

In 2008, he graduated from SFS-F (Suzuka Circuit Racing School Formula) at the top of his class, and in 2009, he began participating in the Formula Challenge Japan. Tomoki steadily gained points through races, and after finishing two seasons at the top of the rankings, he stepped up to All Japan F3 (currently Super Formula Lites).
