Ulrik Samnøy started skiing when he was nine years old at his home mountain of Kirkerudbakken – near Bærum, Norway – and won his first FIS event in Big Air when he was still in junior school. Since then, with training help from the likes of legendary skier Per Kristian Hunder, Samnøy hasn't looked back.
Samnøy’s first FIS top-10 finish came when he was just 15 years old at Dombås, Norway, in 2017. That winter proved to be a springboard for the Norwegian skier's career, with a series of impressive results helping him qualify for the World Rookie Tour and the Big Air category at X Games Norway.
Fast forward to 2019 and Samnøy had scored a junior world championship title, with victory in Kläppen, Sweden. The following season saw him step up to senior level and he wasted no time in securing his first premier World Cup podium place, with third in Big Air at Destne, Czech Republic.
