Spectacular Sunday
A capacity crowd got to witness some breathtaking pre-race activities, not just on track but in the skies above the Red Bull Ring.
The legends parade was the perfect way to celebrate Austria's contribution to Formula One, with heroes like three-time world champion Niki Lauda returning to the place where his career began.
Then it was time to look up to the skies, as vintage planes and an aerobatic show wowed the crowd before the cars took to the grid.
Vettel joins the Austrian veterans
Four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel joined the nine surviving Austrian F1 drivers during their first run out at the Red Bull Ring. Vettel joined greats like Laudaand Gerhard Berger as they prepared to drive in a legends parade ahead of the race.
Vettel also jumped into the cockpit of his advisor Helmut Marko’s BRM and fired up the V12 engine for a lap of the track.
Lynn puts the Bull on top at the Ring
Red Bull Junior Team driver Alex Lynn made the perfect start to the weekend, winning GP3 Race One from pole position in dominant fashion. "It’s really enjoyable driving a race like that. I could take a nice Saturday afternoon drive and enjoy the moment,” Lynn said. “It’s been a long time since I’ve been in this kind of form and it’s nice to be back."
He was also full of praise for the Spielberg circuit: "The Red Bull Ring’s a great track and I enjoyed racing here last year [in Formula 3]. It's nice to come back here."
Austrian drivers back on track
Every living Austrian driver is at the race to drive a lap of the Red Bull Ring. Triple world champion Niki Lauda will drive the Ferrari 312T2 from 1976, while other drivers include Gerhard Berger, Alex Wurz and Helmut Marko.
FMX riders flying high at the Red Bull Ring
Fans were also treated to some two-wheeled action courtesy of the Red Bull X-Fighters Jams.
The FMX riders were greeted with huge applause on Friday evening as they performed spectacular tricks for the Austrian Grand Prix crowd.
AWOLNATION get the party started
Friday night at the Red Bull Ring saw the engine noise replaced with the tunes of electronic rock band AWOLNATION. "It's amazing to be asked to play on the return of the race in Austria, this place feels like a second home to us," said lead singer Aaron Bruno.

The frontman also revealed a surprising fact about his motorsport background, with racing running in the family. “My father used to race in a series below Formula One before I was born, so I have a few black and white photos of him racing and that got me interested in motorsport.”
Passionate fans welcome F1 back to Austria
Thousands of fans arrived early Friday morning to witness the first on-track action at Spielberg since 2003.
