There is, by now, a more-or-less permanent contingent of Brazilian skate rats resident in Barcelona. They hang together, cause trouble together, share floor space and act as a base camp for new Brazilian rippers who emerge, blinking, into the light of the European skate scene. You see them here and there in the city, moving as a tribe, filming, and getting their hustle on. Enter Jonathan Mentex, one of Darkstar’s Latin American flow riders with time on his side and a hunger for those difficult spots and tricks.
The last tweaked blunt/grind thing that he push-its out to fakie on those round ledges Tiago Lemos made famous is just one example of the touch and imagination that sets down a marker for the future. We're certainly keen to see more, and after this Curtain Call perhaps you will be too. Switch lipslide to backside nosebluntslide? Watch it all in the player above.
