New Zealand's ‘Mad’ Mike Whiddett will soon be taking on the iconic Franschhoek pass in South Africa with his Mazda SP3 RX8 BADBUL. But before he gets his drift on, the drift hero has been checking out the local scene. Red Bull lensman Tyrone Bradley was there to recount their experience: "Shock value is rare these days. If you’re like me you’re most likely seriously desensitised to life’s wilder, more primal side. It’s overplayed in the movies, Instagram feeds, fail complilations and more. I was almost mourning that giddyish, excitable, disbelief sensation – until last night that is," Bradley says.
"Spinning caught me off guard, had me totally captivated. I hope the following images portray a snippet of the experience. There’s no intoxicating burnt tyre scent, or deafening tyre and engine screeches accompany these static digital images. This movement is so raw and charged for the people involved. A dance between living and death. Breakdancing on wheels. A channel for purging life’s shadows and a means to connect with the present via an assault on the senses."
