Securing the very best gear should be a top priority for agents looking to get an edge in The Division 2, especially if you plan to dive into the game's PvP mode. Ubisoft's post-apocalyptic world is an extremely volatile place and you'll constantly find yourself in firefights with various wasteland warriors, so having equipment you can rely on is essential to your survival.
If you want to maximise your weapon's damage, you'll want to ensure that your arsenal is equipped with the best talents. Talents can be found on individual weapons and pieces of gear, like masks, backpacks and gloves. There are so many different talents to choose from that it can be a little tricky to narrow down which ones you should be using.
After all, these unique skills can drastically alter your damage output, skill duration, defensive capabilities and impact your agent's overall utility in combat. To help increase your effectiveness out on the battlefield, we've put together a guide that breaks down the best weapon and gear talents that you should be using in The Division 2.

The best weapon talents

Close & Personal
This close-quarters talent is best used by players who prefer to get right into the heart of the action, giving a massive boost to weapon damage. Whenever you take out a target within seven metres, you'll receive a hefty 50 percent weapon damage for a total of five seconds. Pair this talent with the Vector SMG's fire rate or the Double Barrel Shotgun's one-shot potential to get this talent's full damage potential. The Close & Personal talent can really help turn the tide of battle, giving you the edge you need.
Breadbasket
A lot of players are often put off by the marksman and standard rifle's slow rate of fire and high recoil, but these precision-based weapons offer huge amounts of damage and long-distance accuracy. If you need to shoot at enemies from afar and want the headshot multipliers, make sure you equip gear with the Breadbasket talent.
Landing body shots adds a stack of +5 percent bonus headshot damage to your next headshot for 10 seconds. This talent can stack up to a total of 10 times, so you'll want to pair it with the SVD's superior fire rate (260rpm) to ensure you're dealing as much bonus headshot damage as possible.

Optimist buffs your weapon damage by +3 percent for every 10 percent of ammo missing from your magazine, making LMGs even more deadly. This is a good way to deal with a lot of enemies in a short amount of time.
Preservation
If you find yourself struggling in the game's PvE environments and want to increase your overall survivability, then the Preservation talent will do just that. Every time you take out an enemy, you'll repair five percent of your armour for three seconds, while landing headshots improves this feature even further. Late-game missions can get pretty intense and it's not uncommon to run out of armour kits during prolonged firefights, so having this added utility can really help you avoid fatal situations.
Strained
The Strained talent is ridiculously strong and rewards players with +10 percent critical hit damage for every five percent of armour that's depleted. If you pair this with the Berserk gear talent, you'll have a great DPS build that will take out your foes in both The Division 2's PvE and PvP modes. This weapon talent is highly recommended for those that want to truly maximise their damage output.

Hard Hitting
Hard Hitting offers 15 percent damage to elite units. It may not be the most exciting talent in the game, but it definitely makes fighting the game's deadlier enemies more manageable. Make sure you pick this talent if you wish to increase your chances of success, particularly if you play solo.
Berserk
This damage-buffing talent shares similarities to the Strained weapon talent, as it gives the player +10 percent weapon damage for every 10 percent max armour that's depleted. Combine Berserk with Strained for a beastly close-range build that greatly enhances your SMG, shotgun and assault rifle's critical hit chance. Berserk is a great talent to pick if you prefer the run and gun play style over the defensive approach to combat.
Surgical
Surgical is a generic DPS talent that adds a decent +8 percent boost to your critical hit chance. All weapons can benefit from this skill and no conditions need to be met in order to utilise it, so it's worth picking up.
Precise

To increase your headshot damage, picking gear with the Precise talent should be a priority. Precise increases your headshot damage by a massive 15 percent, offering a significant boost to your DPS, especially when paired with your rifle's headshot multiplier.
Unstoppable Force
Having a talent that allows you to stack even more damage is always a good thing in The Division 2, especially when each downed unit grants you two percent weapon damage for every 10,000 of your maximum armour. The only downside to this gear talent is that you need seven or more defensive attributes to actually utilise it, but the overall damage pay-off is definitely worth it.
