What is Red Bull Paper Wings?
The official paper plane world championship, and a celebration for students across the globe, is back. The idea is simple and ingenious: participants must make a plain sheet of paper fly as far, as long or as artistically through the air as possible. All national winners of the three categories – Distance, Airtime and Aerobatics – are invited to the Red Bull Paper Wings World Final in Austria at the iconic Hangar-7, where the champions will be crowned.
Where and when will the World Final Take Place?
The Red Bull Paper Wings World Final 2022 will take place at Hangar-7 in Salzburg, Austria on May 13 and 14. The venue is free and open to the public.

After more than 500 Qualiflyer events, as well as an online Aerobatic competition, 171 students from 57 countries around the world are winging their way to Salzburg for the 2022 World Final.

Who are the judges for the Aerobatics category at the World Final?
Performing live at the World Final, Aerobatics finalists will have just 60 seconds to dazzle three celebrity judges: Aviation star Dario Costa, whose record-setting ‘Tunnel Pass’ flight went viral in 2021; indoor skydiving champion, Maja Kucyzska who is a master of dancing in the sky and snowboarding trailblazer and Austrian native, Anna Gasser who is a pioneer in all disciplines of snowboarding. Located at the Salzburg Airport, Hangar-7 is a modern architectural landmark that first opened in 2003. Designed to be a place where art, the culinary arts and aviation all come together – as well as the home of the Flying Bulls’ fleet of historic aircraft – it is also used as an event and exhibition space.
