For most of the year, the picturesque Puglia town of Polignano a Mare – famous for its incredible scenic coastline and crystal clear waters – has a super chilled, cosy vibe. But once a year, the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series rolls into town, a weekend-long adrenaline rush of awe-inspiring aerial action above the cliffs of this stunning location.
The third stop on the 2024 calendar will mark the eleventh time that Polignano a Mare has featured as an event for the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series since 2009. The stunning natural cliff-top location with an amphitheatre-like setting, the azure Adriatic Sea below and the unpredictable coastal conditions capture the essence of the sport of cliff diving. So for many of the competitors and fans alike, Polignano a Mare is simply the heart and home of the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series.
It’s not all about the stunning beach coves and cliffs, though – the route to the platform is its own brand of wild too. Before even getting into the right headspace for the dive, each diver will have to emerge from the water, negotiate a crowded beach, walk barefoot through a bustling old town before finally, via a private living room, arriving at the platforms mounted on a rooftop terrace… all a part of what makes this stop a truly unique addition to the season calendar!
