As the field narrows for November’s Red Bull Street Style World Final in Valencia, the pinnacle competition in freestyle football is more unpredictable than it has been in years. The lead-up to the big showdown is going to be intense.
More than 60 qualifiers have been hosted worldwide, and the results have seen bold rising stars trick their way to the forefront along with canny champions from years past. Now 54 men and 20 women are set for a seeding phase that is entirely new to the tournament this year: the online Battle Pools. Playing in group brackets, the Battle Pool rivals will go head-to-head, each uploading video for their opponent to respond to in classic three-round battles.
