The best bargain wingers on FIFA 19’s Career Mode

Scare the life out of opposition defences with some of FIFA 19’s best affordable wide-men.

In the market for a new winger in your FIFA 19 Career Mode game but don’t have Neymar money to spend? Join the club. But don’t worry, there are plenty of dangerous wide midfielders out there who can be picked up for less than the cost of one of Neymar’s legs, so we’ve put together a list of 10 of the best.
When compiling our list we tried to avoid any players aged over 30 and discounted any on huge wages. After all, if you’re looking to save cash on transfers you probably don’t have much to spend on salaries either.
All prices quoted are ones we’ve genuinely paid in the game, although transfers aren’t an exact science so they might vary slightly for you. If you really need to save cash you can usually force fees down by adding sell-on clauses to the deal.

Pione Sisto (Celta Vigo)

Pione Sisto hasn’t had the best season at struggling Celta but on FIFA 19 he’s still got plenty to offer. His acceleration, agility, balance and sprint speed stats are all in the mid-eighties, while 82 for jumping helps to make up for his lack of stature. He’s also got 86 for dribbling and 80 for ball control, and while he’s happiest cutting in from the left wing, a four-star weak foot rating means he can play on the right too. 78 for crossing, 76 for finishing and 82 for shot power give you options when you get into the box and while Celta will demand around €18.5m for him, the 23-year-old has the potential to reach 84 overall.

Cristian Tello (Real Betis)

Cristian Tello’s had a mixed time since leaving Barcelona in 2014, initially on loan to Porto and then Fiorentina, before joining Betis permanently in 2017. And while the left-sided midfielder is clearly not quite Barça standard, he can still cause the opposition problems in a number of ways. With 89 for acceleration, 92 for sprint speed, and 82 for dribbling and agility, Tello has all the skills necessary to get past his marker, plus with 78 for crossing, 77 for short passing and 74 for finishing you have a choice between trying to pick out a team-mate or going for goal. Betis will want around €18m for the 26-year-old.

Leandro Trossard (KRC Genk)

Leandro Trossard might not be the finished article yet but Genk’s young left-winger already has plenty to offer on the pitch. Previously linked with a move to Arsenal and Southampton in the Premier League, his stats of 90 for acceleration, 92 for agility, 87 for balance and 83 for dribbling should make him a panic-inducing opponent for many defenders, while 80 for finishing and 84 for composure gives him a good chance of finding the back of the net if he gets a clear shot on goal. Rated 78 overall now but with the potential to reach 82, the Belgian club will want around €17m for the 23-year-old.

Ricardo Esgaio (SC Braga)

If you’re after a wide midfielder who will work just as hard to protect his full-back as he will to get the ball into dangerous areas for his team-mates, Braga’s Ricardo Esgaio can play anywhere down the right flank. That means his defensive stats are as good as some outright full-backs, with 76 for standing tackles and 75 for sliding tackles, but his ability to dribble (79) and cross the ball (82) is up there with the other natural wingers on this list. He’s also got 88 for stamina so will easily get up and down the wing for 90 mins without fading significantly. Braga will want to see around €16m before they’ll even consider letting the 25-year-old go.

Borja García (Girona)

Girona’s Borja García probably lacks the pure speed and strength to play as an outright winger but with short passing of 82, 81 for ball control and 79 for vision, he’s the kind of player who’ll link well with other attacking team-mates to break down an opposition defence from out wide. 80 for dribbling, 81 for acceleration and 77 for balance mean he carries the ball well, while 72 for standing tackles mean he can be handy in initiating transitions as well. 78 for long shots isn’t too shabby either. If you think you can find a spot in your team for the 27-year-old, the La Liga side will want around €15m for him.

Manuel Lazzari (SPAL)

Often deployed as a wingback for SPAL this season, on FIFA 19 Manuel Lazzari is certainly more suited to getting forward than he is defending. That said, the 24-year-old works hard both in and out of possession, and while 84 for acceleration and 79 for sprint speed mean he’s not as explosively quick as some of the other players on this list, his crossing stat of 78 means he can put in a dangerous ball given enough time and space. With decent passing and dribbling numbers he’s generally good on the ball, although just 66 for shooting means you’re usually better off giving the ball to a team-mate inside the box. You’ll have to offer SPAL around €14m to convince them to part with their prized asset.

Yevhen Konoplyanka (Schalke)

Yevhen Konoplyanka was linked to a host of big clubs when he still played for Dnipro in his native Ukraine, and while he hasn’t reached the heights that some predicted five years ago, the former Sevilla man is still a potent attacking presence to have on the left side of your midfield. With 89 for acceleration he gets off the mark quickly, while 82 for dribbling and 81 for ball control make him hard to dispossess when he’s on the move. Find yourself with him in possession on the edge of the box? 77 for long shots and 76 for shot power make it worth a pop and he’s not bad at free-kicks either. Schalke will take around €10.5m for the 78-rated 28-year-old.

Pablo Piatti (Espanyol)

Sure, he’s not as talented as the other diminutive Argentinian across the city (who is?) but Espanyol’s Pablo Piatti still packs plenty of ability in his 1.6m frame. Combined with that low centre of gravity, his stats of 91 for balance, 81 for agility and dribbling, 87 for acceleration and 84 for sprint speed give Piatti a real advantage over lumbering opposition centre-backs. While he’s predominantly left-footed, Piatti is happy operating on either flank, with 78 for crossing and 76 for finishing making him an unpredictable opponent for players to mark. He’s 29 now so Espanyol are only looking for around €12m, but with an overall rating of 78 he can still do a job for most teams.

Markel Susaeta (Athletic Club)

We’d normally avoid highlighting a player aged 30 or over but with his contract in its last year you can pick up Athletic’s long-serving Markel Susaeta for around €9m. Considering the right-winger is so technically gifted and doesn’t rely on pace, his advancing years shouldn’t affect his game too much. 88 for crossing is his standout stat but there’s also 84 for dribbling, 84 for ball control, 83 for both short passing and vision, and 81 for agility. Got a big target man wearing the number 9 shirt? He’ll gobble up the chances Susaeta will put on a plate for him.

Romain Alessandrini (LA Galaxy)

European players tend to head to MLS when their careers are winding down but while Romain Alessandrini is nearing his 30th birthday the Frenchman still has plenty in the tank. With 87 for both sprint speed and acceleration he can still eat up the turf, while 93 for agility and 89 for balance will keep him on his feet when opposition defenders are trying to put him off his stride. Good crossing, passing and finishing stats make him a danger from the right of midfield, although with 83 for shot power and 82 for long shots, you might fancy having a shot from distance. Alessandrini’s contract at Galaxy is also nearly up, so he can be had for just €8m.
