Filmers@Large: Mick and Mark at Shipstern Bluff

Mick Fanning surfs Shipstern Bluff for the first time and Mark Mathews tries a board transfer.

Filmers@Large continues to bring you the greatest waves in the world as they happen, and this week we venture to the Southern Ocean with John Wiley to see a gang of maniacs tackle Shipstern Bluff. Tasmania's most notorious wave has been a touch slow this past southern winter, but she more than made up for it when she roared to life last week.
With a few spare weeks before the Trestles event gets underway, Mick Fanning thought he'd go and practise a different sort of aerial to that found at Lowers, and launch himself over the infamous Shipstern Bluff steps. Mick took his mate Brent Dorrington along for the ride, and if the 'Stern breaks, you just know that Mark Mathews is going to be there.
For Mathews, the steps apparently aren't challenge enough, so he spent half his time trying near-impossible board transfers, soft-top to soft-top style, with mixed results.
Throw on your 5mm wetsuit, hood, gloves, boots and inflatable vest and grab the rope, let's go hit the 'Stern.
