Edinburgh is the capital city of Scotland, and is home to one of Scotland's oldest street spots- Bristo Square. Throughout the 1990's and 2000's, it was teeming with skateboarders on a daily basis. Not only was it a great spot, but it was a skateboard- friendly location.
Owned by the University of Edinburgh, there was an 'understanding' that if you treat it with respect and don't make a mess by tagging or leaving rubbish about, then skateboarders would be tolerated.
Exploring Edinburgh is always fun, mixing the old with the new architecture is interesting and makes it great for photographing.
We've also seen our fair share of skaters pass through, with Stefan Janoski even getting the front cover of Skateboarder at Dynamic Earth.
Saughton Skatepark was complete in 2009 after over 25 years of campaigning. The park is excellent and has rekindled a lot of people’s love for skateboarding, but street skating is still very much alive in the city.
A culturally vibrant and occasionally rough city, the view of its imposing castle as you clamber out of Waverley station tells you instantly that you are somewhere distinctive and alive.
