Snowboarding just hit a new level at X Games Aspen 2025. Hiroto Ogiwara, the 19-year-old from Japan, made history by landing the first-ever 2340 in competition, taking home gold in Men’s Big Air.
"Never. Been. Done." That's how the X Games media team put it after Ogiwara pulled off the trick - six-and-a-half rotations that no snowboarder (or skier) had ever landed before. His 2340 mute grab earned him 97.33 points, comfortably securing the top spot.
Who is Hiroto Ogiwara?
Ogiwara’s story started on the slopes with his parents in Japan. Snowboarding came naturally, and by the age of 12, he was already competing professionally. His quiet focus and steady progression led to early wins at national championships and international junior events.
By 2022, Ogiwara added another All Japan Ski Championship title to his name and defended his World Rookie Finals crown. But it was his showing at The Nines in Switzerland that turned heads. He became the first to land a BS Quint Coke 2160 - five vertical and six horizontal rotations - establishing his reputation as one of the most technically advanced riders in the game.
Known for his smooth style and unmatched rotational control, Ogiwara is carving his own path in the snowboarding world. With X Games gold now in his collection, there's no telling what's next - he'll keep spinning, we'll keep watching.
