“I have been involved in racing since I was born. My father is a former F1 driver and 2 time Indy 500 Champion. He has raced in many series around the world.
Born in Miami and introduced to racing at a very young age, the Colombian-American initially fell in love with motocross before switching to karting and immediately showing plenty of promise.
Racing in the Florida Winter Tour when he was just eight years old, Sebastian soon made the move to Europe to compete in the WSK Super Master Series and the CIK-FIA Karting World Championship.
“Due to my father’s career, racing has been a huge role in my family and they have been a big part in my racing since the beginning.”
It was while competing on the European karting scene that the young driver made a name for himself, eventually securing a place in the Italian F4 Championship with Prema.
My ambition is to be an F1 World Champion,” he states clearly. When he is not racing he enjoys time playing golf, training in the gym and driving on a sim, at school he enjoyed maths. His racing heroes? “Juan Pablo Montoya and Ayrton Senna.”
Sebastian re-signed with Prema for the 2021 season and secured nine podium finishes in the Italian F4 series, finishing fourth overall in the championship standings. He also excelled in the German F4 series, finishing second on three occasions, despite only taking part in six races.
“One of my favourite races so far was in 2021, in Misano, an Italian F4 race, I was fighting to get my first podium in formula racing and I almost got my first win! I also did one of my best passes to get second place to be able to hunt down the leader. The pressure was very high, but I felt very confident in myself and the car.”
2022 proved to be extremely busy for Sebastian as he raced in four different series. Having secured two wins in the Formula Regional Asian Championship, he would then switch to the Formula Regional European Championship.
“My best race of 2022 I would say was in F3 Asia in Abu Dhabi as it was my first race in this level of racing with more experienced drivers than myself, and I made no mistakes the whole race and was P1 from lights to flag.”
Sebastian also made his endurance racing debut during the 2022 IMSA SportsCar Championship and his first appearance in the FIA Formula 3 Championship at Zandvoort for Campos Racing.
“I really like the technical high speed flowing kind of track like Imola and Zandvoort because they leave no room for error as well as Red Bull Ring for the track being well known to have good overtaking spots which make for a fun and challenging race.”
“Racing is my whole life and I love the dedication and mentality you need to have so you can push threw the hardships to be the best. It's about working hard and being fast to be the best so you can win.”
