Formula 2

1 January 2020 – 8 December 2026
A Formula 2 race weekend is designed to test every aspect of a driver’s ability. Each round begins with a practice session and qualifying, where the grid for the Feature Race is set. The top 10 qualifiers are then reversed to form the grid for the Sprint Race, creating plenty of overtaking and unpredictability.
The Sprint Race takes place on Saturday, shorter in length, with fewer points on offer but plenty of opportunity to make bold moves. Sunday’s Feature Race is the main event, run to a longer distance and including a mandatory pit stop, making tyre strategy and race management crucial. Points are awarded in both races, with extra rewards for pole position and fastest laps, so consistency across the weekend is key to becoming Champion.
Drivers compete in identical Dallara-built cars and running on Pirelli tyres, ensuring that talent and decision-making are what set the field apart. With rules designed to control costs and keep the racing close, F2 consistently delivers some of the most exciting and unpredictable action in motorsport.
