HUMBUL gets a new livery
Check out the new look on ‘Mad’ Mike Whiddett’s HUMBUL, seen for the first time at the second round of Formula DRIFT Japan 2017 in Ebisu.
"Generation two of HUMBUL is something fresh for the beginning of the season, although we loved the graphics we previously had with matt black, you always get sick of it being the same and it was time for a change. We added some new colour but the aero has stayed the same.
"I feel like HUMBUL represents Japanese style really well with all the canards, the wing and the flares, it creates some really aggressive lines but is also really functional.
"These cars just look so good in side profile, straight from the 90's era. Out of the RX fleet the FD RX7 is by far the most comfortable chassis for me to drive, I’ve driven them so much now I almost don’t even need to think about it, driving these cars has just become second nature and just instinct. The FD was my first drift car and the car that I have had the most seat time in. I’m back to defend my title in a car that I feel the most comfortable in, I couldn’t have a better tool for the job."
"This G-FACE wide body kit with vented front fenders lets the air flow through the engine bay from the bonnet vents which helps cool the engine, they look aggressive and they do the job. Having these vents gives us our best chance to keep the engine cool and improve reliability"
"With the front canards it’s all about creating downward force. On the back of the car we have the wing and diffusers and sticky tyres to create grip, but it's also very important we have a lot of grip and response in the front end and the steering. These canards look aggressive and they help me a lot."
"Here you get a little glimpse of our four Turbo Smart waste gates that peek out of HUMBUL’s hood, they are connected to our 1,000hp four rotor, twin Garret turbo power plant. We moved our radiators to the back of the car, to prevent damage and having it down the back adds to the rear weight distribution, intercooler stays up the front."
"The rear of the FD RX7 is probably one of the most famous rear ends of Japanese motoring. Here you also see the big external 3D Rocket Bunny wing with some custom mounts that really show off his personal aero style, having that big wing really helps with downforce. Then we have the air ram scoop which rams air through the radiator to keep the car cool. It’s a real nasty looking back end."
