"No Contest" — California

Jacob Wooden heads to Southern California to capture all the behind-the-heats action at the Lowers Hurley Pro. Featuring: Carissa Moore, Kolohe Andino, Mick Fanning, Jordy Smith, Julian Wilson.

California in September is a fun place to be if you're a surfer. The heat of summer is slowly retiring, but trunks are still an option. The first of the winter swells are starting to fire, but conditions are still calm of a morning and fun after dark. And, if you're one of the best surfers in the world, Lower Trestles is readying itself for your arrival.
In our ongoing quest to bring you the best action from behind the world tour webcasts, we once again dispatched Jacob Wooden to the frontline, with instructions to find out what makes San Clemente stud Kolohe Andino tick on home soil, and what it is that's driving three-time world champ Carissa Moore in 2017. Woody spoke to their mutual shaper Matt Biolos and hung with the pair among close friends to bring us a look at their lives away from the spotlight.
As well as bringing us intimate portraits of Moore and Andino, Woody jumped in the backseat for a Mexican border run with Mick Fanning and close pals Jack Freestone and Rusty Long, as they head south in search of lay day waves.
Back at base, Woody captures the best action from around the event, featuring your favourite surfers at their high-performing best. A lot of effort went into this production and we're proud of the direction the No Contest concept has gone in. Hit play now in the player further up this page to see for yourself.
