After a stellar World Cup, you’d think that perhaps football fans might be slightly tired of the sport. But no, the hardcore among you will be right there with us, champing at the bit to watch more now the biggest leagues are back playing regularly. But it’s also time to do some video-game playing as well as watching now that the release of Pro Evolution Soccer 2019 is almost upon us.
Booting up Master League this year, you’ll want to be armed with the knowledge to let you snag some bargains, as well as having an idea about the best young prospects. Anyone who plays regularly knows that Master League can keep you going until the next iteration of PES comes out, so these are the youngsters you need to try out in PES 2019’s latest and greatest career mode.

Phil Foden (Midfield)

At 18 years old, Phil Foden is one of the hottest English prospects around right now. Not only is he the youngest ever Premier League medal winner, thanks to making enough appearances from the bench last season for Manchester City, but he was also part of the England Under-17 squad that won the World Cup – and he scored twice in the final. Many believe he'll become an incredible midfielder and he’s certainly got the right coach in Pep Guardiola to help him achieve that. For his age, he’s a good dribbler in-game, but also an adept passer and quick on the ball. You’ll want to coach him to be a little stronger, but like with many aspects, he’ll improve the more you play him.

Kylian Mbappé (Forward)

Kylian Mbappé had a monumental World Cup for France and he's surrounded by extremely high quality players at Paris Saint-Germain. At 20, he’s still a youngster, but don’t expect to get him on the cheap and his wages will be hefty. He’s lightning fast and can play anywhere in the front line as well as left or right midfield. He also has great shooter stats and amazing dribbling numbers. If you’re going to break the bank, don’t spend the money on Lionel Messi or Sergio Agüero, get Kylian Mbappé and keep him happy. At a starting figure of 86 overall, there’s no telling what rating he can get to, especially when you could, in theory, keep him for 10 seasons!

Jakub Jankto (Midfielder)

At 22 and already rated 78 overall, Jakub Jankto isn’t perhaps the player you’re going for if you’re in charge at Barcelona, PSG, or Liverpool, but he’s a solid dribbler with good shooting and excellent passing. He’s not going to be too expensive, either, coming from Sampdoria (he’s on loan there in the real world from Udinese). He’s just young enough to be able to significantly improve him over a decent managerial spell, and he’s a good buy if you’re working on a budget. He may prove to be an astute signing, as he’s already scored one goal in his 12 games in his international career for the Czech Republic.

Malcom (Forward)

This 21-year-old winger recently signed for Barcelona from Bordeaux, and with an overall rating of 82, you can understand why. Adept on the left or right of midfield or even as an attacking midfielder, he has superb speed and dribbling skills, can pass brilliantly, and knows where the net is. As a Brazilian up-and-comer, you know he's the real deal, but being at Barcelona now means he might be hard to sign.

Amine Harit (Midfielder)

Although the German leagues aren’t in PES 2019, Schalke 04 do make an appearance and Konami are making a big deal about how forward thinking and good to work with the club are. Anyway, as a 21-year-old midfielder, Harit is fast, agile, and happy to ping the ball around. His starting rating of 81 combined with his age means that he’s a steal for the right price. He’s considered a creative playmaker, with explosive power and unwavering balance, so buy him now.

Benjamin Pavard (Defender)

Here’s a tip for signing talented players on the cheap: choose footballers who are part of their national team squad but play for a league that isn't in the game, such as the German Bundesliga. So as a result of the game missing some key licenses, you'll be able to sign free agents like Benjamin Pavard, a 22-year-old centre-back who plays for France and Stuttgart, who aren’t in the game. Rated 79 overall, he has high stats in jumping (86), ball control (76), and defensive prowess (83). Throw in an 82 for ball winning and you have a very good 79-rated player. Get him right away for a low price, play him regularly, and see his stats soar. There aren’t too many other World Cup winners you can sign cheaply, so sign Corentin Tolisso as well. The French midfielder is 24 and 83-rated.
