Snowboarding

Photography is the most accessible and intelligible language of snowboarding, understood not only by those who ride but also those who wish they did. It’s not only a catalyst for progression but also a record of how snowboarding has progressed: It can teach and inspire, as well as set benchmarks to which all can aspire, both in photography and riding.
The photographer of this week’s Photo of the Week, Silvano Zeiter, is a rising star in the field of shooting snowboarding. His style is fresh with an artistic lilt and analogue approach that distinguishes him and his artsy clique from other snowboard photographers.
says Silvano. “That may be music, films, nature, friends, travels, other photogs, you name it. It's just important to me to keep my ears, eyes and even my heart open to evolve. As a photographer you never stop learning, that's the beauty of it”.
He ended up shooting snowboarding as he himself is a keen shredder and because in his own words he gets to ride “deep pow nearly every day”.
he says. “Being out there, seeing incredible places, meeting all kinds of interesting people who sometimes even turn into friends for life, that's what makes my job into the dream job it is”.
This photo shows his friend and pro rider Levi Luggen charging pow in Saas-Fee late last April. “It had been already pretty warm before” explains Silvano. “Most of the resorts were already closed and everybody was in spring slush mode. But then a huge storm came in and it stayed surprisingly cold the day it cleared up”.
They hooked up with the Absinthe crew, Danny Kass and Nicolas Müller. It was “perfect” remembers Silvano… And what is a perfect snowboard shot I asked Silvano:
