Earlier in the series we heard from former Germany and Bayern Munich footballer Mario Gómez, who ended his playing career in 2020 after spending nearly two decades as one of Europe’s most admired strikers. Mario is now technical director for Red Bull Soccer and has plenty of cause for celebration after RB Leipzig’s German Cup final victory in June 2023 meant they lifted the trophy for the second season in a row. Mario had much to say about the highs and lows that are inevitable in any competitive environment. And he told us how, despite setbacks, he managed to maintain confidence that the next chance would always come. But after such a long and celebrated career, Mario had so much more to say, and we thought you’d love to hear his interview in full.
