The 10 best Pro Evolution Soccer 2017 goals so far
Let your jaw drop to the deadliest PES 2017 strikes of the season so far.
Pro Evolution Soccer 2017 is finally here, and that means wonder goals galore! We’ve scoured the internet for the very best that PES has to offer, including breathtaking bicycle kicks, net-busting thunderbolts and sublime skills that’ll have you biting your fist in disbelief and awe. Do let us know your favourite and tell us if you think you’ve done better than what follows…
Quality German engineering
Unlike the quality of the video, there’s nothing fuzzy about the skills on show 11 minutes into Germany vs France. After a patient seven-pass build up that begins in France’s half during this exhibition grudge match deep within the Nou Camp, the ball is whipped in to Kroos, who leaps and back heels it into the net from just outside the six-yard box. The keeper has no chance; before he’s even hit the deck, Kroos has wheeled away to celebrate, his gloved hands punching at invisible herons. Thank you for sharing, uploader Welsh Ryu, Hadouken to you.
Quality German engineering #2
It’s Germany vs France again here, and another German goal – and according to uploader Uassasinpro it’s “BEST GOAL EVER!!!”. Well, it’s certainly top 10, otherwise it wouldn’t be in this list. It’s 1-1 as Germany kick off in the 62nd minute, so our powers of deduction can tell us Germany have just lost the lead. Özil isn’t going to stand for that. Collecting the ball in the centre circle, he weaves his way past five Frenchmen on his way to the opposition goal, before smashing it into the bottom left corner. In real time, it takes just 12 seconds. Twelve seconds of magic. Audacious.
Bicycle kick bliss
“Best goal ever?” the title asks, spitting contemptuously in the face of Uassasinpro. See for yourself who’s the liar. For some reason we only have the replay to enjoy in this video, but it’s still a thing of majesty. After some dogged work up the right wing by what appears to be Barcelona’s number 10 (so that’ll be Lionel Messi, who according to our sources is quite handy, or footy, with a ball), the ball is crossed in with the outside of his boot to be met by Suárez’s chest, as he tees himself up to flip in the air like a spooked trout and overhead kick the ball through the goalkeeper’s brain and into the back of the net. Take that, red-and-white-sleeve team!
Lucky for some
Despite this goal having more than a hint of fluke about it, thanks to a heavy looping deflection, that still doesn’t make it any less enjoyable to watch. Here we join Barcelona again, as a Neymar cross is headed out of the box towards Iniesta, who hovers about 30 yards out on the left-hand side of the box. He smacks it on the volley, straight towards Atlético Madrid’s Fernando Torres, who heads it skywards from the edge of the box, sending the ball spiralling into the top right-hand corner via the Moon, leaving the keeper scrambling.
Beautiful curls
Zoom to 1:04 of this compilation (remembering to turn the sound off so you don’t have to endure the quite terrible soundtrack) and you’ll see a fantastic goal ruined by random fades to black. Don’t worry, by 1:20 it’s replayed in full. Deep into injury time, France’s Antoine Greizmann collects a flighted ball on the right of the pitch, controls it, turns one German defender, nutmegs another, then puts a beautiful curler into the top left corner. He then seems to celebrate by saying “the fish I caught was this big… THIS BIG!” but after a goal like that, quite frankly he can do what he wants.
Accuracy from Arsenal
Seriously where do they find this music? Anyway, the first goal of this compilation will take your breath away. Arsenal’s Giroud receives the ball on the edge of the area, flicks it up between his legs, spins and nonchalantly boots the ball into the top left corner. It’s shown from three different angles, getting more impressive with each view. Barcelona’s keeper could’ve started his dive back in 2014 and he still wouldn’t have been able to reach it, so perfect is the execution and accuracy. It’s almost as good as Neymar’s goal at 1:33 on the same compilation...
Bend it like… Neymar
Where were we? Ah, yes, 1:33 from Neymar in the same clip above. We all enjoy a curler, but this ball is bent so much by the Brazilian ace that it seems to leave the Earth’s atmosphere and go around the universe, passing Superman going the other way, before rejoining the pitch’s gravitational pull and twisting into the top right-hand corner from all of 30 yards out from a standing start. Atlético Madrid’s players can only crouch with their heads in their hands as the goalie reacts as if he’s been shot in the face. Camp Nou will seldom see a better goal than that.
Oxlade-thunderbolt!
Join us now for the goal at 1:47. It’s Arsenal vs everyone’s favourite team, CR Flamengo, and a cannonball of a shot by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, followed by the worst celebration you’ll ever see (Seriously, is he alright? Does he need medical assistance?). Unchallenged from all of 40 yards out to the right of the box, the man in yellow dribbles it towards centre and then unleashes the power of a million thigh muscles to outside-of-the-boot it into corner. If it wasn’t for a reinforced top-quality net, the ball would keep going until the army was called in to stop it. Quite remarkable.
Apocalypse Goal
Complete with a soundtrack that makes it sound like this goal was scored in the dystopian world of RoboCop 2, this wonder-strike really showcases the amazing graphics that the latest PES boasts. The ball is crossed into Rodriguinho at the edge of the box, who kind of mixes an overhead kick with a roundhouse kick, before falling back to see the ball corkscrew its way into the bottom right corner of the net, beyond the leaping keeper. The replay at 12 seconds demonstrates the sheer power of the net-rattler as the goalie flounders on the floor like an old plastic bag failing an audition for a community theatre production of American Beauty.
Ain’t no stopping Neymar now
“Oh my God, what a goal! Did you see this goal by Neymar?” the voiceover asks. Why yes, yes we did, thanks to the twin powers of video and human sight. Playing for Barcelona vs Boca Juniors, the Brazilian ace receives a pass from Mr Suárez, before taking it towards the goal and striking it from about 25 yards, achieving one of the most satisfying things in football: the post and in! The ball then ricochets around the net like a pinball. The sound is most pleasing. At time of writing only 59 people have viewed this goal, it deserves a wider audience.
