The Red Bull BC One Camp in Mumbai was on fire, with multiple battles going on over the course of the three camp days. These are all the winners.
The Red Bull BC One Camp Mumbai is still running, but the first two days are over and were packed with exciting battles and amazing moments. To sum up the experience that left us speechless, we'll hand over the mic to one of the hosts, Mario Bee from the I.B.E., before we introduce all the winners of the camp battles.
When I get back to Europe I'l tell everyone that India rocks, because over here hip-hop is in the house
The Red Bull BC One B-Girl World Final
The first part of the Red Bull BC One B-Girl World Final went down on Thursday, as part of the camp programme. Japan's Ami, Ayumi and MiMz, as well as Russia's Kastet, reigned supreme and qualified for the battle on the big stage on Saturday.
The Red Bull BC One Last Chance Cypher
Nori from Japan and Kazakhstan's Killa Kolya convinced the judges and claimed the two final spots for the Red Bull BC One World Final. Both breakers are already veterans on the BC One stage.
Read up about what they had to say in our Thursday recap.
Break Down the House
In the Break Down the House battle, B-Boys and house dancers team up for a 2 vs 2 battle. Prithvi and Kemio took the win over Ronnie and Tornado in the finals.
India's popping scene is more than alive and the Popping Battle at the Red Bull BC One Camp Mumbai was proof. Excellent technique, musicality and, most importantly, beautifully developed individual styles were presented to the bouncing audience.
The Top Eight decided their winner in a Seven to Smoke battle. which ends after 30 minutes, or when one dancer beats all other dancers in a row. According to one of the creators, Mario Bee from the I.B.E., the winner Raw Shan was the first one ever to achieve the win by smoking everyone. Urban history made in India.
Top to Bottom battle
Top to Bottom is a breaking battle where the competitors perform toprock in the first round and footwork in the second. Power moves and freezes are out of the equation.
The battle was a display of finesse, style and creativity. All the competitors showed that they know what it takes, but at the end of the battle, Kancha reigned victorious in front of an ecstatic audience.
Power move battle
For the power move battle, the team had a surprise for the local B-Boys. After doing a preselection of one round per dancer, they had the chance to challenge power move experts Lil Kev and Kid Colombia (known for their showdown from last year's Red Bull BC One World Final) in a KO Battle.
The Indian B-Boys Bonta, 2 Kill, John and Power Child took the challenge and demonstrated that their power level is more than serious. Despite that, the final was Lil Kev vs Kid Colombia, which definitely was the hypest moment of the judged battles on that evening. The win went to Kid Colombia from Holland, the only winner on Friday night from outside India.
54 contenders from India entered the preselection for the hip-hop battle. After a preselection that presented a wide field of styles and manifold interpretations of the hip-hop style the judges chose eight dancers to compete in a KO battle. Vishal took the win over Bed Rock in the final and earned the trophy as the Red Bull BC One Camp Mumbai hip-hop champion.
Bonnie & Clyde battle
The Bonnie & Clyde battle was again an open competition with teams of one B-Boy and one B-Girl each. The field consisted of international and national contenders. There were many competitors from the Last Chance Cypher and B-Girl World Final battling. In the final Jilou from Germany and Harrien from Taiwan won over Sarah Bee and Pac Pac from France.
Indian Crew battle
The camp programme culminated in the Indian Crew battle – a place for all the local crews to test their skills against their fellow crews from the whole country. The crew Chill Lovers came out on top and will be remembered as the winners of the Red Bull BC One Camp Mumbai Crew champions.
With the camp coming to an end everyone was moving over to the venue of the Red Bull BC One World Final.
