Red Bull Soapbox Racereturned to Turin recently, wowing a bumper 20,000-strong crowd in northern Italy with a fun-filled day of thrills and spills, and was eventually won by Let There Be Rock.
Six years after their first appearance in the home of the country’s motor industry, the third running of the competition in the city saw a hotly contested day of action.
Fans and racers alike had their pulse quickened as a course featuring not only the classic straw chicane but also a three-metre berm, a bump-to-bump jump and even a kicker.

The designs of the soapboxes certainly lived up to that of the track. Among some of the more memorable were a Pope-themed car that performed a flip on the kicker, a pair of peanuts who drilled the berm, and an Italian salami that performed a 360 flip on the steepest part of the course.
But there could only be three teams on the podium, and ultimately one winner, and the judging panel – that included Marco Fontana and Max Piffaretti – had their work cut out.
In the end, guitar-themed Let There Be Rock came out on top, closely followed by Pollocar and Cappuccetto Rotto.
The latter was a rather frightening depiction of the classic Little Red Riding Hood. Check out their car, and the best images from a fantastic day in the sun below.
