It's been two years and the pain of is still ever-present. The loss of one of our sport's greatest stars remains so surreal.
Andy Irons is missed everyday. And so today, on the anniversary of his death, we pause and celebrate a life that was truly lived, while simultaneously mourning a loss that came far, far too soon.
What made Andy great wasn't just that he was heroic in the water. It was his humanity. It made him real. Someone fans could identify with -- that's why we loved him so much.
So, it's with a heavy heart that we remember the people's champ: Andy Irons.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family -- his wife Lyndie, son, Axel, and brother, Bruce -- and friends the world over.
