There is nothing more iconic in biking than the Tour de France so what better way to celebrate the 100th edition of the bike race than by jumping over it on a mountain bike.
Swiss-based bike crew and filmmakers EnchoRage spent six months planning a road gap attempt with the intention of jumping just as the Tour de France leaders passed through the final climb on the Annecy stage this past Saturday. EnchoRage rider Romain Marande was the man given the responsibility to attempt the jump and he successfully cleared over the road gap just as the yellow jersey group passed by.
This is not the first time that a road gap has been attempted over the Tour de France. Dave Watson did it in 2002 with a little less planning and an almighty crash.
