We've been given the chance to watch Formula One a lot on the silver screen in recent years. Ron Howard's Rush has held up the feature film side of the bargain, while there have been great documentaries on Ferrari, Bruce McLaren, Niki Lauda and Ayrton Senna.
But now, Senna's life is set to be played out on the stage, as Senna: O Musical (that's Senna: The Musical) heads for its premiere at Rio's Teatro Riachuelo Rio on November 10, 2017.
Directed by Renato Rocha – who's previously directed for the Royal Shakespeare Company – and officially endorsed by the Senna family, the musical will feature Brazilian actor Hugo Bonemer as Senna, and tell the story of the three-time champion's rise to the top of F1, via the use of much, much choreography.
"We'll have a lot of high-wire numbers," says Rocha of the musical. "There is no way to make a show about Senna without lots of speed, sounds and lights."
We've seen the teaser for Senna: O Musical and it looks… interesting. We're just going to leave it here for you to enjoy.
